The problem, however, is that we are currently in a situation where the
authorities have said "we think this is a good algorithm AND NO OTHER
ALGORITHMS MAY BE USED."

Just like algorithms for extensions, there are many, for all practical
purposes infinitely many, good ways of writing poetry. When someone says
"it's only a poem if it's in iambic pentameter, ottava rima, and no
enjambment" we've got a problem.
