Just remembered. There is also a Wasborough Hale bell at Devizes
Museum,(?from the workhouse) not to mention a considerable collection of
handbells, mostly from Aldbourne, and sheep bells, which the Aldbourne
founders, and others, made a great many of. Contrary to the museum's
assertion there are no bells there by Devizes' own founder, James Burrough.
However you can hear his bells not only as the front two at Devizes St John,
but also every quarter from the Market Hall clock, which I think is a better
memorial than having them in a museum.
There is also a set of Wells handbells at the pub at Sutton Veny which I
don't think are used.
