One keeps remembering, and as I said earlier, I suppose there must be hundr=
eds - possibly a very boring list. I have already got my oar in but failed =
to mention the installation of the six ex-Basaleg steel bells for chiming a=
t at the Millenium Galleries in Sheffield, which must be pretty unique. And=
of course, the old treble of six from Westminster Abbey (removed 1919) tog=
ether with the small service bell which formerly hung over one the transept=
s and a dish bell from the monastic refectory - all of them now housed in t=
he Abbey's undercroft museum. Then there's.....no, someone else's turn!

Just remembered. There is also a Wasborough Hale bell at Devizes
Museum,(?from the workhouse) not to mention a considerable collection of
handbells, mostly from Aldbourne, and sheep bells, which the Aldbourne
founders, and others, made a great many of. Contrary to the museum's
assertion there are no bells there by Devizes' own founder, James Burroug=
h.
However you can hear his bells not only as the front two at Devizes St Jo=
hn,
but also every quarter from the Market Hall clock, which I think is a bet=
ter
memorial than having them in a museum.

There is also a set of Wells handbells at the pub at Sutton Veny which I
don't think are used.
