Tut, tut. Jim, just round the corner from my church and vicarage, and you d=
idn't call in :)

Yes, the Bed Centre is a former school building, one of the several that wa=
s started by a church - in that case Emmanuel Baptist - in the last century=
. It is a Taylor bell, late 19thC.

Subject: [Bell Historians] Single bell in Leicester

While on a brief visit to Leicester for a graduation ceremony I spotted a
single bell hanging from a simple wooden headstock in a bell turret on th=
e
roof of a shop selling beds. The shop is at the corner of Ruding
Road/Narborough Road and the roof outline suggests the building was once =
a
Church. Is there anyone who may know of the history of this building and
the bell? From the ground it looked more than just a 'schoolbell'. The
shop would have no use for this bell and it could make the treble of a li=
ght
six!
