Re Chislehurst Annunciation (DLC):
> A cracking good ring they are too. Details recently up on Dickon's site.

Details have been there for a few years now. The G&J 5th sticks out like a
sore thumb in the otherwise Taylor octave - it could really do with being
recast. G&J upset the tower captain at Chislehurst between casting the 5th
and installing the remaining 7. I am trying to pin down the exact story, but
I understand that G&J actually cast the tenor and had it labelled on display
in the foundry. The captain of Chislehurst saw it, said "that is not a 1 ton
bell as requested" and promptly went to Taylors. This may well have been
true as the G&J octave was planned assuming that the earlier bell was the
6th rather than the 5th which it now is.

Of course, Taylor's designed and built the 7-bell frame (the G&J bell is in
its own frame). There can't be many of those in existence!
