>I was interested in the description of how Exeter tenor was rung to Major.
>I
would have thought that two ropes coming off of the wheel would have
interfered with each other in the pulley box and affected the go of the
bell - was this overcome in any way, does anyone know?

Wouldn't the 2nd rope come off the wheel the other side with its own garter
hole and pulley and one rope does the backstroke while the other one does
the handstoke and vice-versa

The heaviest bell rung to a peal single handed was Liverpool wasn't it?
Pete Border accomplished it
