Soundwaves cracking the tower

Some architects confuse the energy of the sound emitted from a bell when it is struck with the forces generated when a bell is swung/rung. If a tower is so weak that sound affects it, then it would probably collapse on the first swing of the bell!

However this did not stop one West Country architect who in the 1980's objected to sound-proofing being put into a tower on the grounds that with nowhere to escape the sound would damage the tower!
