Re the article in this week's RW about the bell at Singleton which has the same inscription as the 9th at Carlisle apart from a spelling mistake, surely the explanation must be that the bell was a reject and was sold off as a stock bell - presumably either because of the error in the inscription or because it came out flat. No doubt Mr Higson will be able to provide the definitive answer...
