Just to advise those who keep lists of "Great Bells" that the five bells of St Thomas RC Church have now been returned to St Helier from Taylors and that the weight of the largest is now 49-1-4; 63", B, G&F Paccard, Annecy, 1930. So it will have to come out of "my" list in the Diary which has a cut-off weight of 50-cwt approx. The other four each weigh less than a ton.
The very slender and lofty tower and spire, by M. Norman, of France, were not designed for a ringing peal and these ones hang in a wooden two-tier frame built by Paccard in 1904. The French fittings have been scrapped and new JT fittings for slow swinging (by electric motors) are being installed.
