Anne refers to the use of the word "tunable". You'll also find the description "untunable"
I've come across a number of instances of the use of these words, and in every case the sense in modern language is of being tuneful or untuneful - nothing to do with need for tunng or (in the case of untunable) someone having tried to tune them and failed!
