Subject: [Bell Historians] april 23rd ringing

Pencilled note in back of a Westbury (Wilts) churchwardens' account book
dated 1822.
Ringing Days Jany 29 [King's accession]
			 Apr 23 [St George]
			 May 29 [Oakapple Day]
July 19 [Coronation Day, George IV]
			 Novr 5 [Powder plot]

These ringing days took place in most Wiltshire towers that have the
relevant records. Some have other ringing days; others omit some, but
ringing for 'Powder Plot' (and don't forget the 'Glorious Revolution') seems
to have taken place everywhere.

Anne
