Can anybody explain what the current criteria for listing is?

- Does it differ from Diocese to Diocese?

- Is it as a result of a careful analysis of other similar bells, or just an
arbitary decision from one influential or "knowledgeable" person?

If a bell is to be listed, ie worthy of preservation, then surely it needs
to be as the result of an open process based upon known facts and evidence,
and the decisions need to be consistent so that they can be trusted.

Just saying that they sound nice is not good enough.

David
