I’m very sorry to hear about this, I actually have a copy of chris’s book on big ben and it has got to be one of the best books ever written on that subject, I particularly like the first chapter where he describes a visit to the tower itself it will probably be the closest any if us will probably get to seeing it .

For those who have not already heard, I am sorry to pass on the sad news of the passing of Chris McKay. He passed away in Hinton Martell in Dorset last week. He learnt to ring under Wilfrid Wilson at Christ the Saviour Ealing and rang there in a peal in 1974.

Chris was a leading member of the Turret Clock Group of the Antiquarian Horological Society and wrote a number of books on the subject as well as the definitive history of Big Ben. He was also a contributor to this group as was known by many.
