[Bell Historians] Peal discrepancy

Can I take a slightly different view? Pealboards such as this one are bloomin’ expensive! I know, we have some of this type at Allesley, including one bought in my time there.

I hardly think is likely that such a large discrepancy about the day and date would have got through the proofreading stage of production. It is about as certain as we can be that the pealboard is correct.

It is much more likely that the peal was rung on a Saturday as this would have been at least a half-day and Wednesday would have been a working day.

Looks rather simple to me.  The Bell News normally published after a delay.  A  peal arrives, with
the wrong date, and as it is the week for printing ones of that date, it gets added in at the last
minute.

When Bell News arrives on the mat of the sender, and realises he'd put the wrong date (I'd guess
he didn't submit the day originally), he sends in a correction.
