Andrew:

"You could try the attached series by Colin Newman. Although it does
have the disadvantage of introducing an extra method at the start that
is later discarded (Swineshead), it has a big advantage (in my opinion)
over Richard Pearce's series in that you start straight off with the
Chandler's pattern of calls and lead-end groups and just plug methods
into the correct place as you go along. There are 2 versions with
different orders of methods added"

I've copied the text of the attachment below, so that's it is preserved
in the archives.

Spliced Surprise Major

(Steven Chandler's using Norman Smith's Methods as a Base)

This composition assumes a knowledge of Norman Smith's 23 Spliced
Surprise Major. It is designed to allow bands who have rung Norman
Smith's to progress to Steven Chandler's composition in small steps.

To ring the first composition will require the band to learn 3 Chandler
methods: Belfast, Willesden and Chesterfield along with Swineshead which
is Uxbridge above the Treble. Norfolk (8ths Place Cray) and Primrose
(8ths Place Cambridge) are also rung.
