bells, should it not be called a Single? Simple explanation of the why's 
and wherefore's, if any, would be appreciated"


Doubles can be a bit of a different case...what do you call the "traditional" 145 call in, for example, plain bob doubles, then?

As you surmise, semantics don't worry me too much, in any case.
