If we move to a descriptive framework for ringing next year (and there
does seem to be a momentum of support building for this), then the
Methods Committee role will be to ensure that ringing can be
consistently described while avoiding making value judgements on what
is rung. While such a method might, at first glance, appear to make no
sense at all, it is possible to envisage a role for it once the
identity change is not proscribed. For example, if you had a round
block 1439 of Spliced Minor containing no internal rounds, then a lead
of this method would make it up to two extents. Mores sensibly
perhaps, the same result could be achieved using an identity change
call.
